Waverly Avenue's Historic Boulders Tells Us a Historic Story
🌟 DID YOU KNOW? Waverly Avenue Elementary isn’t just one of our oldest school buildings; it’s also home to a unique slice of American history!
🇺🇸 On the front lawn between the building and the road stand three special boulders that each tell a unique story:
1️⃣ In 1932, an elm tree and a boulder were placed to honor the 200th birthday of George Washington.
2️⃣ One marker notes that the elm tree next to the rock is a descendant of the one planted at the White House by President John Quincy Adams in 1826.
3️⃣ And in 1976, the Waverly Avenue PTA dedicated a boulder to celebrate America’s bicentennial.
Let’s continue to embrace our Sachem history! #WeAreSachem
